HETA Delivers Recruitment to Steel Giant

HETA's unique recruitment process has led to a liaison with one of the area's largest employers.

Corus is currently employing HETA to manage the recruitment of all apprentices and trainees - expected to be between 60 and 70 for September 2008.

Human Resources Manager, Dave Scott explained that this is the steel giant's first experience of HETA and the first time that the company has outsourced at this level.  "We knew HETA by reputation because our training manager, Karl Fenney had worked with them previously on the Humber Bank", he said.  "I met Eric Collis and we talked about the recruitment process.  We looked at different options and suppliers but we went with HETA because of the detail and thoroughness of the scheme and we believe the value added by the process will be very cost effective."

Corus is currently advertising for apprentices and all applications will go to HETA who will handle them in the same way as the six-step process employed in its own centre.  "HETA are doing the testing, interviewing and pre-selection which will deliver us candidates that meet the required standard," Mr Scott explained.  "We see this as best practice process.  We pride ourselves on striving to be a world class employer and we believe the quality of HETA's processes will add to this.  The eyes of the business world are on the scheme and we all have to make sure it delivers."

HETA's General Manager, Eric Collis is very pleased to be working for Corus.  "We are delighted to be given this opportunity to deliver our 'Six Step' for another company," he said.  "It has been developed by many years of recruitment experience and is a process that results in quality apprentices."
