OBJECTIVE: To provide the knowledge and skills
required to perform basic Arc Welding operations whilst enhancing
the personal skills and attributes.
This course is suitable for persons with little or no welding
knowledge.
Upon completion of this course, candidates can apply to receive
the License to Practice issued by The Welding Institute (TWI).
This is recognised in the UK and throughout the world
and, therefore, the License to Practice is a passport to gaining
and securing employment in welding engineering worldwide.
COURSE CONTENT:
- Using Electricity for Arc Welding
- Arc Welding Processes and Equipment
- Safe Working Practices
- How to Prepare for Arc Welding Activities
- How to Make a Simple Arc Welded Joint
* On successful completion of the above units an on-line
examination will be carried out. Successful candidates can
apply to EAL for a certificate.
OPTIONAL UNITS (One Must be Completed):
- MMA Welding to a Weld Procedure
- MIG/MAG Welding to a Weld Procedure
- TIG Welding to a Weld Procedure
* On successful completion of one of the above units, an
independent Welding Inspector from TWI will officiate at the
practical welding tests. Successful completion of one or more
welding tests will result in coding certificates being issued for
each successful practical test.
