As part of an engineering apprenticeship, all apprentices have
to complete a technical certificate.
HETA made the decision to deliver the BTEC National Certificate
'in house' in September 2003 and currently has more than 100
apprentices registered on BTEC National Certificate programmes.
Running the courses in-house has meant that HETA has been able
to link the technical theory with the practical training, providing
varied programmes which satisfy the needs of our customers. It also
enables HETA to keep a close eye on the needs of the trainees,
giving support where needed.
The BTEC National Certificate in Engineering covers the
following disciplines:-
• Mechanical Engineering
• Operations and Maintenance
Engineering
• Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• Instrumentation
• Telecommunications
These schemes are recognised throughout industry as the best
vocational qualifications available to engineering technicians and
are supported by the country’s leading provider of vocational
qualifications – edexcel.
