Summary

The aim of this course is to enable the learner to safely and effectively size, prepare and assemble small bore tubing to the manufacturers recommendations. The course includes both theory and practical sessions and is assessed in both of these separately.

Tubing and Tubing Systems

  • Tubing selection and specification – including material type and sizing
  • Tubing allowable pressure ratings for differing duties

  • Cost effectiveness

  • Elimination of the need for hot work
  • Simplification of support requirements
  • Turbulence reduction

Tubing handling, storage and design requirements

• Estimation of materials requirements
• Potential pitfalls in planning the route path
• Providing adequate support

Fitting selection and installation

  • Recognition of the different fitting manufacturers products
  • Differentiation between imperial and metric
  • Correct assembly of fittings. This covers most of the major manufacturers
  • Post installation inspection
  • Reassembly of previously installed fittings

Health and Safety considerations

  • Avoiding fluid injection or cutting injuries
  • Avoiding system failure due to improper fitting interchange or intermix
  • Compatibility or non-compatibility of lubricants / sealants

  • Marking out
