Malcolm has been Chair of HETA since early 2014, having initially joined the Board of Trustees in 2011.
He worked for BP for 32 years at the Saltend Chemicals Park near Hull before leaving to focus on consultancy and voluntary work. During his time at Saltend, he worked with everyone from politicians and business leaders to community groups and residents to gain planning permissions for about £500m of new investment.
He has also worked extensively with schools to develop student interest in STEM and enterprise subjects particularly through improved careers awareness and practical work experience -emphasising the opportunities for girls as well as boys.
Malcolm passionately believes that HETA’s commitment to excellent engineering training can lead to outstanding career prospects through apprenticeships and further learning whilst also providing an invaluable resource for our local employers.
