Our HNC Programmes
From September 2024 HETA will be enrolling students onto the new Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs).
The Higher National Certificate (HNC) is a Level 4 qualification made up of 120 credits. It is studied part-time over two years (40 weeks per year). We are able to offer this programme as 2 pathways:
Electrical and Electronic:

Course Specification:
- Awarding Body - This Level 4 BTEC qualification is accredited by Pearsons.
- Course Duration - If you decide to invest in a HNC at HETA, you will be required to attend our Hull site one day a week for 2 years.
- Enrolment Dates - We enrol yearly for our Higher National programmes, successful applicants start in September.
Entry Requirements:
Current advanced apprentices should achieve a Level 3 BTEC in Engineering. Applications from ‘mature’ Engineering technicians with suitable equivalent qualifications are welcomed and previous engineering experience may be considered as evidence of suitability for the course.
Candidates looking to apply must complete the online application and will need the following information:
- A valid email address you check regularly.
- (Where applicable) your employers' contact details.
- Your GCSE maths and science grades.
- Details of other relevant qualifications you hold.
- Contact details of a referee to support your application.
Cost
The total cost of investing in the HNC programme is £2950 + VAT per accademic year.
