HETA has been supporting engineering and industry since 1967. As a not-for-profit training organisation, strong governance is central to ensuring we remain focused on our purpose, accountable for our performance and responsive to the needs of learners, employers and the communities we serve.
Our governance arrangements provide independent oversight and challenge, helping HETA make informed decisions, manage risk effectively and continue to deliver high-quality technical training across the region.
HETA is governed by a Board of Trustees who bring a broad range of experience, knowledge and expertise from industry, education and business.
The Board provides strategic oversight of the organisation, working with HETA's senior leadership team to ensure that we:
Our industry links have always been fundamental to HETA. This ensures employer needs and the changing demands of engineering, manufacturing and associated industries remain central to our strategic direction.
HETA was established by industry, for industry, and that principle continues to shape how we operate today.
Our governance structure helps ensure that HETA remains connected to employers and responsive to emerging skills requirements. This industry insight supports decisions around our curriculum, facilities, investment and future training provision.
It means our strategic decisions aren't made in isolation – they are informed by the industries, employers and communities we exist to support.
We are committed to maintaining high standards of governance and being transparent about how HETA is managed.
Our Board regularly reviews organisational performance, quality, finance, risk and strategic priorities, providing both support and constructive challenge to the senior leadership team.
HETA continually reviews its governance arrangements to ensure they remain effective, appropriate and aligned with our responsibilities as a charity and training provider.
