We know that decoding Apprenticeships as an alternative post 16 option can be a lot to learn in a short space of time. We have put a handy guide below to answer your questions.
An apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity for your child to gain hands-on experience and valuable skills in a real-world job setting while still learning. Think of it as a blend of work and education, where they earn a wage, receive mentorship from experienced professionals, and often attend classes to complement their on-the-job training. It's a great way for them to jumpstart their career, build confidence, and potentially secure a job in their chosen field. Plus, it’s an excellent alternative to traditional college, offering a direct path to a successful future!
An apprenticeship at HETA is an amazing journey for your child that typically lasts three years.
In the first year, they'll spend time at one of our top-notch training providers, learning the foundational skills they need. Years two and three are where it gets really exciting—they'll work directly with a company, honing their skills and gaining real-world experience. Throughout this time, they'll be employed and earning a wage!
At the end of their apprenticeship, they'll complete an end point assessment to showcase everything they've learned. It’s a fantastic way for them to build a career and gain confidence in their abilities!
At HETA, we are incredibly proud of our learners' achievements and the high success rates of our apprenticeships, which consistently produce skilled and confident professionals ready to excel in their careers. Last year we had a 100% success rate for the BTEC Level 3 qualification achieved in year 1 of the Apprenticeship.
We are proud to be in the top 10 medium to large training providers in the UK for Engineering & Construction.
In addition our Learner's achievement rates are also 20% above the National Average.
HETA apprentices have fantastic opportunities for higher education, with pathways that match traditional academic routes but come with hands-on experience and no student debt! Our HNC program is delivered one day a week over two years, and for those aiming higher, the HND is also on a day-release basis for two years. After completing these, students can top up their qualifications with a one-year degree at a local university, achieving a full BEng degree. Impressively, 100% of our learners who pursued a degree achieved a 2:1 or first-class honors, showcasing their dedication and the quality of our programs!
