We understand how valuable it is to work with schools and colleges in the local area to provide insight into the opportunities available for young people when they leave education. Our FREE activities support young people to build their knowledge and understanding of the opportunities within engineering.
Our team are here to support you with the in-school activities you offer to your students including:
Presentations in assemblies
We can deliver presentations that provide insight into the post 16 options available to those looking at pursuing engineering after school. As well as delivering these presentations to Year 11, we do also offer talks to younger students about what engineering is, the different routes you can take and what an apprenticeship is.
Our Year 11 assemblies showcase the apprenticeship opportunities we have at HETA along with introducing the higher education route we offer and how the application process works.
Career Fairs & Exhibitions
Our team can attend your careers fairs/exhibitions to speak to students about HETA and the opportunities we offer. We will provide insight on the courses we offer, the employers we work with and what criteria your students’ needs to meet.
Parents & Options Evening
As well as attending careers fairs, our team can support you in your parents evening and option evenings to discuss with parents and carers the course we offer, benefits of apprenticeship and the GCSE requirements. These events are fantastic for us to meet parents/carers to discuss about the application process and the future opportunities their child could have beyond HETA.
Application support session
We offer a variety of activities to support student throughout our application process. Our 6 step application process can be challenging, however, our team are here to support students throughout every step. We can provide the help and support they need from the initial online application to what they need to be prepared before applying with us. It’s not just about gaining the grades you need but it’s also important to show your passion for engineering, your willingness to learn and what makes you stand out amongst other applicants.
Taster Days
Our taster days provide a more hands on experience of what it would be like as an apprentice at HETA. Each student will have a taste of different areas we offer including electrical, mechanical, welding and more!
Team building activities
We offer engaging team-building activities at your school that challenge students' skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. These hands-on sessions are designed to inspire students to explore engineering by showing how creativity and collaboration play a key role in real-world challenges.
Open Evenings
We host our open evenings throughout the academic year to provide students an insight into what life is like at HETA as well as showcasing our fantastic facilities. These events run across our Hull, Scunthorpe and Grimsby and are bookable via the link - HETA Open Evenings and Taster Days | Humberside Engineering Training Association - HETA
Students who apply to HETA are required to attend one of our open evenings as part of the application process
All of these activities align with the career’s strategy, supporting education to meet the Gatsby Benchmarks for good careers delivery.
