Take the next step in your engineering career with a flexible programme designed to turn your hands-on experience into academic achievement and career progression.
This flexible top-up degree builds on your experience, combining academic learning with hands-on projects to help you gain the knowledge and confidence to progress in your career.
Designed for students with a Level 5 qualification, such as an HND in Engineering, and delivered by the University of Hull, the programme provides a part-time progression route that supports regional talent and creates pathways to degree-level qualifications.
This two year top-up degree is designed to help you take your career to the next level. Unlike traditional programmes that require separate work placements, you’ll draw on your current professional experience as a foundation for your academic learning. This makes the course especially suited to those already working in engineering or related fields who are ready to progress into senior or specialist roles.
You’ll be supported every step of the way through:
Throughout the programme, you’ll work with real-world case studies, tackle project management tasks, and deliver technical presentations - all designed to strengthen the skills that employers value most and prepare you for promotion and leadership within the engineering industry.
Throughout your degree, you’re expected to study for 1,200 hours per year. That’s based on 200 hours per 20 credit module. And it includes scheduled hours, time spent on placement and independent study. How this time is divided across the year varies and depends on the module you are studying.
How you'll be assessed depends on the course you study, and the modules you choose. You may be assessed through a mix of examinations, coursework, presentations and group projects.
