A HND in Engineering is ideal for those who are looking to build upon the knowledge and skills they have gained from studying a HNC. A HND is the next step on your higher education pathway and similarly to the Level 4 HNC, positions you to be able to manage projects and improve processed, a vital aspect of senior roles.
This qualification allows those who are already in engineering or technical roles to expand their skills and knowledge. The flexible learning schedule is designed to support balancing full-time employment with further study.
As the HND build upon the skills and knowledge gained from the HNC, you will be able to demonstrate a deeper understanding of advanced engineering principles and proficieny in projects specific to your workplace, enabling you to apply your newfound knowledge to your existing role.
Having been developed by household names inclding Alstom, BMW, Siemens, Jaguar Land Rover, Railtrack and the Engineering Council, the HND is a recognised pathway for those aspiring to acheive even higher qualifications, such as a full Bachelor's degree in engineering.
The Higher National Diploma (HND) is a Level 5 qualification made up of 120 credits. It is studied part-time over two years (40 weeks per year). The units that make up the HND in Engineering are as follows:
This Level 5 BTEC qualification is accredite by Pearsons.
Studying a HND means that you will be required to attend our Hull training centre one day per week for two years. (40 weeks per year).
We enrol yearly for all of our higher national programmes, you will begin studying in September.
As a minimum, applicants should hold or be working towards a Level 4 technical certificate. Applications from ‘mature’ Engineering technicians with suitable equivalent qualifications are welcomed and previous engineering experience may be considered as evidence of suitability for the course.
